RULES FOR FRIDAY NOVEMBER 17th WARHAMMER 40K DOUBLES TOURNAMENT
Da Boyz 2017 Team Tournament Rules
This will be our fifth year of running the doubles event! Each year the event grows in attendance which means we get to bring it back! For those of you that have not attended in the past this is a casual event, and our main priority is make sure everyone is having fun. That said because this is a game we need to have some structure below are the rules for the event:
Models and Points
1.) Your team will consists of two separate 1000 (975 min) armies. Each Team will have access to a total of 3 Detachments of their choice. Each army must wholly occupy one detachment on their own. The third detachment can be used by either team member.
2.) All instances of Special/Unique/Named Characters must be unique. For example: a Team cannot field Abaddon the Despoiler twice. This also applies to upgrades to squads (e.g., Boss Snikrot, Sergeant Telion, and the Changeling).
3.) Command Points. Each Team starts off with a pool of 4 Command Points in addition to any points earned from detachments or characters. If all of the detachments share the same keyword then Command Points are free to be shared among both armies. If they do not then each player get 2 of the 4 starting command points in addition to any of their detachment or army bonus. Furthermore those command points can only be used on their detachment’s units and any associated dice rolls.
4.) For army source material you can bring whatever you want for your army selection. It must be the most current version of those rules and you must also have present the physical source material (digital legally obtained media is acceptable.) This means forge world codices and experimental units. No, you cannot bring 30k units we are not playing 30k we are playing 40k.
5.) All models must be what you see is what you get. If a model is not within compliance the model in question will be removed and not be allowed for further play in the event without a substitution. It is important that the models have all of the correct visual weaponry on them, i.e. a Leman Russ Demolisher has the correct cannon and side weapons that were selected in your army list. Another example is a Space Marine Tactical Squad with seven bolters, meltagun, and a Lascannon be model with those weapons on them. That said its ok, if small wargear such as grenades is not present. If you have any questions about this please let us know.
6.) Your models do not need to be painted but they do need to be FULLY assembled.
7.) Under Strength units are not allowed
1.) Warlord Traits – Your team must nominate one Warlord. It can be from any detachment, but is always an HQ choice from any Detachment. Players are allowed to choose between HQs should a Primary Detachment have more than one.
2.) Psychic Powers – If your team shares a keyword they are free to use powers as written. If your team does not share a keyword then the power’s cast only effect their army.
3.) Roll to go first – We are using an alternate method to see who go first. We are going to require a roll off to see who go first. The army that deploys first will receive a plus to that roll.
HOW THE TOURNAMENT WORKS:
1.) Competitors will participate in three (3) games over the course of the day. In each game, you will play a scenario and record the outcome of the battle on your results sheet. Each round you will play a different opponent.
2.) Each Missions will be worth a the points listed. We ask that Kill Points be kept track of for each mission in the case of a Tie Breaker.
3.) Each round will last 2.5 hours. Players may begin playing as soon as they have finished deployment.
4.) In the first round, teams will be matched up randomly. After the first round, teams will be matched up according to current rankings in the tournament (based on the number of points they've scored) e.g., the team in first place will play the team in second place and so on. We will try our best not to pair teams that come to the event together or regularly play each other in the first round. If a team receives a BYE they will be awarded max points.
5.) You will not play the same team twice.
6.) We will do our best to prevent a team from playing on the same table twice.
7.) The pairings for each round will be posted as soon as they are determined. Please be sure to arrive at your table ready to play right away.
8.) Slow playing will NOT be tolerated. Players are expected to complete at least 4 rounds. If you suspect your opponent is slow playing PLEASE notify a Battleground staff member as soon as possible as we cannot do anything about alleged slow play after the fact.
9.) Each game will be played on a 4' x 6' board.
10.) Players will receive Results Sheets at the beginning of each round. Each results sheet must be filled in properly to ensure that match-ups and point totals are correct. Once Results Sheets are completed they are to be turned in at the counter so the scores can be entered into the computer.
11.) There will be 4 awards. Best Painted which is decided by each team voting what they think is the best painted army with judge’s opinion as the tie breaker. Best Sportsmanship which is also done by team voting with Battle Points as the first tie breaker and kill points as the second. Best Generals is decided by Battle Points with Kill points as the first tie breaker and team voting as the second tie breaker. Overall Doubles Champions will be a combination of painting, battle, and sports.
What You Need to Bring with You:
-Your (hopefully painted) miniatures
-At least THREE copies of your army list
-Rulebooks and any additional books you need
-Pen and paper
-Dice and templates
-Something to transport your army from table to table

We will have a private bar for attendees open in the afternoon on Friday and Saturday. Outside alcohol is not allowed in public areas including the gaming hall. We expect participants to drink responsibly. We reserve the right to ask participants to leave if our alcohol policy is broken.
